Recruiting for Consumer Perception Studies

We’ve talked before about the value of consumer perception studies as a clinical trial form, and their success is in part due to the unique recruitment process. These trials offer a lot more flexibility in recruitment, as their inclusion criteria can often suit a wide variety of patients. This increased accessibility also means consumer perception recruitment can be done quicker with lower costs.

Accessibility

Consumer perception trials allow for easier recruitment, given their natural accessibility. These studies often take place at home, with little to no travel or lab visits required. Additionally, these studies tend to work best for supplements or skincare products that may not require a specific patient type and may be a viable option for a broader sample to test out.

The patient cost of consumer perception studies also tends to be quite low, as the trial sponsor or CRO will typically provide the product to be tested in addition to any extra equipment needed (e.g. glucometers may be provided in diabetes targetted supplement trials.)

Timeline Fulfillment

Given the ease with which a wider range of patients can participate in this type of clinical trial, it can often be accomplished on a faster timeline than other research. Recruiting for these trials is a simpler process that tends to appeal to more participants.

These kinds of trials can take significantly less time than other clinical research, allowing you to create effective health claims without investing as much. You can save time and stay on budget while still gathering the kind of information that your customers actually care about, for instance:

  1. What percentage of users saw a difference in their skin (e.g. reduction of redness) after using your product for six weeks?

  2. How did taking your supplement regimen impact their digestive symptoms?

  3. Are there any specific concerns about the product your participants reported that might be relevant to your customers?
