Celebrating Innovation: Fourth Phase Wins the Citruslabs Consumer Perception Study Grant

At Citruslabs, we believe in empowering emerging health and wellness brands with the tools they need to grow, evolve, and make a lasting impact. That’s why we launched our Self-Service Consumer Perception Study Grant, offering one forward-thinking brand access to a high-value consumer research package.


After careful consideration of many inspiring applications, we are thrilled to announce that Fourth Phase is the recipient of this year’s grant!

Why Fourth Phase? A Brand with a Mission


Fourth Phase is more than just a wellness brand, it’s a movement dedicated to transforming postpartum care for new mothers. Founded by Nana Eyeson-Akiwowo and Marcia Cole, Fourth Phase was born from a deep recognition of the overlooked needs of postpartum women, particularly in under-resourced communities. Their mission is clear: to provide mothers with the physical, emotional, and mental support they need during the crucial Fourth Trimester, the recovery period after childbirth.


Their journey started with philanthropy. Nana’s work in Ghana exposed her to the severe lack of maternal care, inspiring her to take action. In 2017, she launched free postpartum “maternity go boxes” filled with essential self-care products for new mothers. Later, Marcia joined forces with Nana, bringing her expertise in branding, media, and marketing to transform Fourth Phase into a social impact business.


How Fourth Phase Will Use the Grant


Winning the Citruslabs Consumer Perception Study Grant will allow Fourth Phase to gain valuable consumer insights that will strengthen their product development, marketing, and messaging. Through the self-service study, they will:


  • Capture real-world feedback from postpartum mothers who have used their products.

  • Develop strong, data-backed marketing claims (e.g., “XX% of moms agree this product supports their postpartum healing”).

  • Refine their offerings based on genuine consumer experiences.

  • Scale their impact by using research-driven strategies to reach more mothers.


By leveraging these insights, Fourth Phase can continue revolutionizing postpartum care and providing mothers with the support they deserve.
